I just wanted somewhere to keep images/files that will at least be up as long as SL.

I could definitely see the use in that, i'd use it if you had it just cause it's proprietary to the site
be cool if you could connect SL accounts directly to it, so each user had a library of pictures they posted/uploaded to it

I definitely like the sound of this.
Would like to see all of the suggestions come into play. I can really see SL users engaging with them.
