What do you do when travelling? - Boudica - 05-26-2016

How do you entertain yourself when travelling?

I just did a 10+ hour flight yesterday and always find those long-haul flights to drag real bad. I'm totally unable to sleep during travel, especially on planes as the air is too cold and dry and my mouth goes dry. Sucks.

I usually try and pick out 3-5 films I want to watch and some TV shows to fill the time on the flights. I've discovered that the music sections on their in flight entertainment systems is beyond terrible. I had been on one once where you could pick albums but I've never seen it since.

In the car/train I usually just listen to music, game on my phone or read a book but I get travel sick sometimes.

What about you? What do you do when desperately bored while travelling?

Yeah, their music is awful. Normally play my 3DS/Vita or watch movies. On the ones that have internet, I might go on SL.

I usually touch myself in a very uncomforting manner for other passengers.

It's a pretty good idea actually. I was thinking of taking some for my next flight maybe.

It's a way better idea than wasting hours with nothing to do

Took a 12-hour flight to the UK, 13-hour from Germany, 15-hour to/from Japan, 8-hour to/from South America, etc. all for family trips and visiting relatives. The only thing I ever do is watch movies or listen to music - I can never fall asleep on flights, so I use 'em to catch up on movies that I've not seen and sometimes they'll have some newer stuff that I haven't seen yet so I'll watch that, too. It's a good time for music for me too, as I can get a few albums out of the way and even maybe the discography of a band if I like 'em enough. I know a good few people just pop sleeping pills and sleep the flight, which is a pretty good idea instead of wasting time doing nothing but staring at the rest of the plane.

And yet you aren't blacklisted...

I agree, I've never tried tablets before though.

I usually sleep or look at the window if I'm not driving. If I'm driving I'll sometimes veer off course just to look around. Google maps has a feature called explore that I use to find good restaurants, fast restaurants, etc. Love it.
