I would say being intelligent has a part in having grammar, without grammar and many other components, how can you say you are intelligent. If you are going to call yourself intelligent, you should be able to know how to spell, placement of punctuation marks, etc.

If you're ignorant, you can misspell words quite often and just mess everything up.
If you're intelligent, you either type with good grammar or sub-par grammar.

I wouldn't say grammar is a requisite for intelligence. Intelligence can be a lot of different things actually - for you can be intelligent in one field, say math; yet poor in another field, say english. So, no - I don't feel that Grammar is needed to be intelligent. (Before someone says something I am actually somewhat intelligent with an IQ of 135).
