One Punch Man Discussion Thread - Natsu - 02-22-2016
If you're into anime, you've SEEN the legend of Saitama and the series - One Punch Man. What are your thoughts? I'd like to here what everyone else thinks about it because believe it or not, some people actually dislike the series
Obviously I'm a fan of it. Can't wait to here what you guys and gals have to say.

Well aside from its terrible writing and the fact that it is a parody... (And the fact that the anime is half-assed..) Then it isn't a awful series, but little interesting going on and every character aside from the main character is interesting. (Which kindof was the point of the series, but meh.)

Definitely understand that POV. I just fucking love how stale Saitama is, it's hilarious. Tatsumaki is best female. And Sound-o-Sonic is my favorite male character for some reason.

What I am saying is that I actually prefer characters who have, well a character. Saitama is okay, but he is intended to be a joke, and as of such he comes of as forced if anything. Genos is cool though. (Totally not saying that because I find him attractive.)

I dislike Genos because he can't clutch battles when he's needed then he relies on his God - Saitama, to handle the dirty work. He isn't actually a bad character though.
And I do think Tatsumaki and Sound-o-Sonic have some good character plot holes that we haven't seen yet. Well, it's pretty certain there will be a Season 2 within the next few years.

Implying that plot holes make a good character? Wait, wut? Anyhow, Genos character was intended to the underdog and more of the "defenseless" puppy who wants to be strong. Hence his character is by default like-able. (As everyone loves a underdog, right? RIGHT?) Speed-o'-Sound Sonic is a meh character, with a un-original character design. Tatsumaki, is, decent. (Nothing bad or good to say here.)

I've never seen a character designed quite like Speed-o-Sound Sonic... maybe I'm wrong but I've watched tens maybe hundreds of series' and never do I get the vibe that Sonic gives me Same with a lot of characters. But then again, like you said; the whole point of OPM is to practically mock the typical shounen series'. It goes either way.
