OneDrive & Google Drive - Lumen - 12-21-2015 These have become two of the main cloud services for companies and private people alike over the past few years. I've personally used Google Drive for the past years, but I am thinking about making the swap to OneDrive for a few reasons. I'd like to ask a question regarding that, which do you prefer and personally use? (If you use neither then which would you use if you had to use either of them?) I'd like to go through a few reasons as to why I am thinking about making the change.
Integration with Windows 10 This should be a no-brainier, Microsoft made it their goal with Windows 10 to create a single, unified platform and with this the integration of OneDrive as well as Office became much clearer. While Google Drive is heavily integrated with ChromeOS and Android, it isn't as easily accessible with Windows computers and phones. Consider the fact that I prefer Windows over ChromeOS for my computers, then this is an obvious reason why I am thinking about making the change.
Integration with Android It should come as no surprise that Google Drive and Google Office is easily accessible through their main operative system, Android. Though what may come as a slight surprise is that OneDrive and Office seems to work equally good with the AndroidOS as Google's own version of it does. As a primary Android user, I thought that this would be an issue if I was to make the change, but it appears that it isn't.
Price & Space This is probably the least subjective point I came to. Both Google Drive and OneDrive give you 15GB of free storage right off the bat. However, Google Drive also gives you Google Office (Docs, Slides etc.) at no extra cost. Microsoft on the other hand isn't so giving and you will need to pay for their Office services. However, I looked the numbers over a little. 1TB of storage at Google Drive costs roughly 9.99$ USD a month, while OneDrive offers 1TB of storage and Microsoft Office together for the price of 7.41$ USD. (At least here). That means not only is OneDrive space slightly cheaper, included in the same price you get access to full Office. RE: OneDrive & Google Drive - Jupiter_mybb_import19992 - 12-21-2015 You can get free storage with Dropbox on Android (At least for galaxy) Also if you have a school account you can sign up for a Microsoft Education account and get 1tb of online storage! You school will have a unlimited Google Drive for you as well so take advantage of that XD RE: OneDrive & Google Drive - Lumen - 12-21-2015 (12-21-2015, 11:29 PM)Jupiter Wrote: You can get free storage with Dropbox on Android (At least for galaxy) That only depends on what country you live in, as neither Google or Microsoft has deals with every single school in the entire world. Though I can say as much, my school doesn't have a deal with Microsoft or Google. |
