Making an upgrade page. No plug in - Kyou - 02-20-2013

Create a php file and name it "upgrade"

PHP Code:
<?php define('IN_MYBB', 1); require "./global.php"; add_breadcrumb("Upgrade", "upgrade.php"); eval("\$html = \"".$templates->get("upgrade")."\";"); output_page($html); ?>

Now go to ACP > Themes & templates > Templates > Global Templates > Add template.

You will need to write your own content.

Code:
<html> <head> <title>Upgrade</title> {$headerinclude} </head> <body> {$header} <table border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="4" class="tborder"> <tr> <td class="thead"><span class="smalltext"><strong>Upgrade</strong></span></td> </tr> <tr> <td class="trow1"> Add here your custom messages. </td></tr></table> {$footer} </body> </html>

You can edit that however you wish. But make sure you call the template "upgrade" since the php file is called that as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up.

I always wondered how people did this. Copying this down for future reference.

How do you get the paypal button that goes to your paypal?

PayPal actually does that. There's different types:

https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_donate-intro-outside

Google PayPal buttons or search PayPal help docs. You should find some more answers. Smile

Create the button at Paypal under the merchant tab, put the code provided after you make it and place it where you want it, in the template.

Very nice tutorial, thanks Chris.

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to just use the donate/upgrade plugin and just edit it from there for most people though? Has the same result and is just as easy if not easier imo.

Limit the use of plug ins. More plug ins you have, the more vulnerabilities you create.
