Using “Activity Monitor” preinstalled in OS X, check whether any process named “kernel_service” is running. If so, double check the process, choose the “Open Files and Ports” and check whether there is a file name like “/Users//Library/kernel_service”. If so, the process is KeRanger’s main process. We suggest terminating it with “Quit -> Force Quit”.
This probably affects everyone with Transmission 2.90 on OS X.

Honestly not surprised at all. Sure as hell would put hardcore Apple paraders in their place though. I'm on a MacBook Pro right now actually, but it's running Fedora 23.

qBittorrent is my favorite client, I have never been a fan of Transmission. With that said, any popular torrent client makes a juicy target, so this is not the last time we will hear of such compromise.
