My Phone is Dangerous - Oni - 12-02-2015 I read some of the legal documents when I was unlocking the bootloader on my Moto X Pure. I found this bit of their legal agreement quite funny. MOTOROLA LEGAL AGREEMENT AND WARNING Wrote:WARNING: MOTOROLA STRONGLY RECOMMENDS AGAINST UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER AND/OR MODIFYING OR ALTERING A DEVICE'S SOFTWARE OR OPERATING SYSTEM. DOING SO CAN HAVE UNINTENDED, UNFORESEEN, AND DANGEROUS CONSEQUENCES, SUCH AS RENDERING THE DEVICE UNUSABLE, VIOLATING APPLICABLE LAWS, OR CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE AND/OR BODILY INJURY, INCLUDING DEATH. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - B!t - 12-02-2015 "INCLUDING DEATH" ![]() for real, there died some people who was burned too dead. On page 2 under (7) you'll get more description of this and what could, in theory, happen. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - CEO - 02-01-2016 LMFAO it can cause death be careful !!!! RE: My Phone is Dangerous - zorrophreak - 02-01-2016 If anyone is interested, I will be posting a YouTube video of me trying to make my phone cause damage later. I'll link it here. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - swatterhat - 02-01-2016 The whole thing makes sense. That is prolly why you unlock at your own risk. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - Dean Winchester - 02-01-2016 I read those disclaimers as well when unlocking my Moto X Play as well. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - Bish0pQ - 02-01-2016 Well if you think far enough, any electronic powered device can kill you. There was once a kid (probably everyone heard this) and he/she was charging their phone a whole night when the phone was still laying in the blankets. The phone overheated and the house was burned to the ground. What I'm trying to say is, I think that big companies just mention things like that so if it happens, nobody can start a law-suit against them. RE: My Phone is Dangerous - Shebang - 02-01-2016 I mean, it's technically possible, albeit in an extremely rare circumstance The only way I could imagine this happening is after unlocking, flashing a kernel with over clocking abilities or abuse the quick charge ability of the phone, under or over volting, etc. Could be a potential issue with heat in these cases, and I'm not sure what temperature Li-Ion/Li-Po batteries are rated for. When those explode it's not pretty.Joking aside, I saw the same thing when I unlocked my Moto X Play. Annoyingly it would show the disclaimer on every boot until you flashed over the logo image. |
