Payday 2 adds microtransactions, stat-boosting skins, crates - MiS - 10-18-2015 ![]() Quote:Payday 2 developer Overkill once said, "We've made it clear that Payday 2 will have no microtransactions whatsoever (shame on you if you thought otherwise!)," which was true until today's update. http://www.destructoid.com/payday-2-adding-microtransactions-after-developer-said-it-wouldn-t-315725.phtml Quite sad, really. The game's become pay to win, along having to already spend money for the game itself, and over $100 in DLC. The game did quite well in terms of reviews and gameplay initially, but in recent years it started to face backlash from fans and customers alike who witnessed undelivered promises, bad PR campaigns, and rude statements from the developers. Interestingly enough, 2 years ago, the devs promised never to use microtransactions: Quote:Overkill Software's upcoming heist-themed action game Payday 2 will not feature microtransactions, lead designer David Goldfarb has confirmed with GameSpot. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/payday-2-wont-have-microtransactions/1100-6410303/ In addition to the update, the game is now fully integrated with Steam inventory and Steam marketplace. RE: Payday 2 adds microtransactions, stat-boosting skins, crates - MiS - 10-18-2015 Microtransactions are one thing, but I despise how the stat-increasing skins give pay to play players an extra edge. Yeah... stat increases are BS. The only reason I play CS:GO is because the skins are pointless (and I already have the ones I want). RE: Payday 2 adds microtransactions, stat-boosting skins, crates - troubler - 10-22-2015 I love how everyone hates Microtransactions, yet we still pay for them. They keep doing it, coz we keep buying it. RE: Payday 2 adds microtransactions, stat-boosting skins, crates - Ion - 10-23-2015 I hate pay-to-win games. I played a game called Team Fortress 2, and everyone called me an "F2P". I asked everyone what an "F2P" was, and they said "Free 2 Play". They thought that it was an insult to say that I didn't spend money on the game. At that point, I stopped playing it as their logic is redundant. They spend their money on useless, pointless virtual junk that they only see on a computer screen, yet insult me for not doing so. I also hate it when people say things to game modders (they're called hackers by most people, which is very misleading) about wasting their time "hacking" (modding) on the game and should get friends. The point of a video game is for cheap entertainment. The "hacker" (modder) is having his/her own entertainment, therefore they are sticking to the point of video games. These people can also make money by selling their game "hacks" (mods), which also makes their time spent on the video game worthwhile, when the people telling the "hacker" (modder) that he/she is wasting his/her time "hacking" are actually wasting their own time, hypocritically. If anyone says that people whom mod in games (such as using things like minecraft hacked clients) have no friends and waste their time, that is entirely false, as the person is having their own entertainment within the game by using these mods. RE: Payday 2 adds microtransactions, stat-boosting skins, crates - Jacket - 11-19-2015 Maybe if skins didn't boost stats it would be ok. Like Counter-Strike skins don't give you any sort of special ability. I guess they saw how much Valve was making from TF2 and CS:GO case keys and the market taxes. |
