I stay up every Wensday Night. - XFL - 10-08-2015

As many of you may know, I attend college and this is my 2nd year. I have a pretty weird schedule.. but the main point is that Wednesday I only have 2 classes that are super spread out and 4 out of the 5 of my classes on Thursday. Fridays, I have off.
A friend asked me a question today and it provoked some thoughts, here is what I felt like sharing with you guys today.

Monday through Wednesday, I stay up till around 2:30-3:00 to awake to my class at either 8 or 9 depending on the day. Thursdays, 8AM is when my first class starts. I take about 3 adderals to remain focused and awake throughout Wednesday night and all day Thursday. Why do I do this? To catch up. To see things you'd never see if you always slept. I understand the consequences and know that its terrible for your body to do this, especially so often.

I program, a lot; but in my free time. I have a lot of math homework and I struggle with math, a lot. Tonight, I'll be doing a large accounting (I'm a fucking programer, I'll program whatever needs accounted for..) study sheet tonight so I can use it for the test tomorrow. I like to enjoy time with friends and family as much as possible but everything has a consequence. My "friend time" has a price and that price is to stay up one night a week and get everything done I could of done without ditching my friend.

If you've ever read my signature (I'll post it here so you can see it again if I ever change it)
Spoiler:
Work so fucking much my greatest fear is I'mma die alone
Every diamond in my chain, yeah, that's a milestone
People calling me, asking me for money, man
The only thing I'mma give you motherfuckers is the dial tone

It legitimately means something to me. I'm not even in my major yet for college but I can program and walk circles around people if they even start talking computer; yet they could be third year and in their major. I've worked hard for my knowledge and I've self taught myself. I've spoken to people doing computer programming first semester and then have seen them in their second semester and they switched. Why? Because they couldn't do it.

A book can teach you programming works, but only you can teach yourself how to program. What I mean by that is that even if a book can teach you how to write a program, making a program yourself with your own direction that has almost no documentation on means you're actually a programmer. You're using logic. That is fully understanding what you're doing. I've explained to many people that it takes a certain person to want to sit there and look at lines of words that once compiled together create something truly special.

In short, don't let anything stand in your way of doing what you want to do. If you don't know what you want to do? Start fucking working on it because if you're going into college or in college and don't know what you wanna do; you're fucked. For those who do, work harder. Cut off things you don't need in your life. Make sacrifices. I don't want to know your dreams and aspirations, you guys probably couldn't give a shit about what my dreams are; but start chasing them.

I need food now. Goodbye.

I get off of school an hour early every Wednesday, making Wednesday my favorite day besides the weekends.

I took school pretty seriously. I was always stressing about my grades. I was sort of a perfectionist and I'd spend most nights getting my work to my liking. In turn, I received good grades. Awesome! Right?

Now this is where some regret comes in to play. I was so overly obsessive about my grades and always having my work done on time, that I never really enjoyed my youth (not that I'm not still young!). Sure, good grades are nice and dandy, but good grades never got me incredible friendships, relationships, hilarious late-night memories that I will remember 40 years down the road.

So, in hindsight, I wish I would have stressed less about grades and more importantly on the knowledge gained in my field, which is all that really mattered. Whether that was through schoolwork or my own endeavors, isn't important. I would rather become so much more relaxed at the realization that I am understanding the material rather than needing the grade to show it, because no one has ever asked me if I got an A, or a B in this or that class. I go months at a time up all night doing homework, through weekdays and weekends that even that friends I had, I never really bonded with. I get to the point where I don't ever get invited anywhere, but I can't blame them because it's safe to assume I'm doing homework all night again and I'm too stressed out to do anything fun and put the notebooks down.

I guess the moral of the story is that while sacrifices are necessary to achieve success, don't let visions of success completely inhibit your highschool/college experiences. Realize what's really important in the long-run and put down your damn notebook for a night and start accepting invitations without hesitation and enjoy yourself. Get that girls number you've been crushing on in class and remember that that last exam grade won't determine your future.

I am probably so far off of the intent of OP's post but they both have college in common so it will be all right. In fact, I probably just wrote this for myself but I can't be the only person who gets grade anxiety.

You're a hypocrite. You tell people not to be a loser, yet say you're a loser. Stop being a loser. Brighten up. You have purpose in this world. Everybody does, except for the tranny @_Megan. I believe that fear and doubt are the only things that drag people back in life. Get rid of these two things, and you'll be a billionaire.

Not exactly. It's similar to a parent trying to prevent their children from making the same mistakes they made. I made the mistakes so hopefully I can help others get some enjoyment out of these upcoming years, ya know? But yes, fear and doubt are absolutely the greatest enemies. Also, low-blow with the tranny comment... If you're going to make a motivational post you gotta go all the way through with it.

Personally I stay up tuesday nights cause I have an early morning on wednesdays, it's student drinking night on a tuesday so when I come home I just stay awake.

You should probably lay off on the Adderall. Balancing priorities (studies/friends/etc.) is harder in college. If you're sleepless and tweaked out on Adderall half the time, things definitely won't get easier for you. Tongue
