Mora Companion HD (Knife) - Earth - 07-10-2015 The Mora Companion Heavy Duty is a very affordable knife you can get it for under $20 but they last a lifetime. There is people with Mora's 10 or even 20 years old still in use in good condition. The only downside is that over time the sheath may start to loose retention, you can fix this in various ways with duct tape, heat guns, or even just buy or make a kydex or leather sheath. This is mine, it has a forced patina on it:
RE: Mora Companion HD (Knife) - Cressi - 07-10-2015 I'm principally against the Mora brand in general, but they do make some proper blades indeed ^^ I used one in my youth when out camping, and they do keep what they promise I don't believe in knives under £20 ![]() How's the sharpness degrading on it? Mora does there heat treats correctly so the edge retention is as it should be of a Scandi grind being that mine is the Heavy Duty being thicker then the regular companion it holds the edge longer. Mora is not for everybody but in this class of knives Mora and Hultafors are really as good as it gets. I would say on a wild guess that 80 to 90% of the bushcrafters or outdoors people have a Mora. They are tough knives and reliable knives. But everybody has a right to there own style and taste of knives. Good thought ![]() Ah, built for lasts, then ^^ *Googles Hultafors* Ah, fair point ^^ They probably do, it's a fantastically popular brand ^^ I'm not sure I'd say reliable at all times, but definitely tough enough for most duties ^^ Amen, brother
RE: Mora Companion HD (Knife) - Oni - 07-13-2015 Mora makes some super durable knives. However, I tend to like blades with a more aesthetically appealing look (and they are generally pricier). That being said, I'd probably bring one if I was going camping or plan on doing some messy cutting. The Bushcrafter HC is going for $75 without a sheath and $105 with a sheath. https://www.ltwrightknives.com/bushcrafter-hc.html RE: Mora Companion HD (Knife) - networkZombie - 07-13-2015 Cody Lundin from Dual Survival used to use a Mora knife. I miss that show. RE: Mora Companion HD (Knife) - Earth - 07-14-2015 (07-13-2015, 11:08 PM)networkZombie Wrote: Cody Lundin from Dual Survival used to use a Mora knife. I miss that show. I am pretty sure he still has that same Mora til this day I believe its one of the Mora Classics. He is still teaching primitive and survival skills. |
