Blackhat or Defcon and why?
I'm considering going to one of them this year but I'm not sure which one to choose.

Personally I'd go to defcon. It's bigger than its counterpart and blackhat is just a defcon spinoff.
EDIT: Blackhat is a shittier defcon spinoff.

No one here is gonna tell you to go to black hat just because defcon is the cooler thing to say, but idk why you would go to any "hacker cons" anyway. If you're going for the content, simply view the presentations once they're posted on the internet and save yourself a lot of money.
+ ur going to have to witness the "hacking community" irl which isn't a pretty sight to see IMO.

Defcon Is the choice by many, mainly because It's renowned for It's hacking convention.
In my views, It depends exactly what you're after. BH may lack In one entity that Defcon fulfills and vice-versa. So It's an Individual choice based on one's objective.

I won't say Defcon is the best, although I probably would not recommend Black Hat to most people.

The "hacking community" won't show their pitiful faces at a con. Only whitehats will, and although they are whitehats and therefore boring, they are better than kids.

Wow. Rude. I went to Defcon. You're right about there being a lot of whitehats, though.
