What do you think of this Android phone specs? - OversouL - 06-26-2015

Just saw this earlier. What do you think?
Quote:Price: about $180

ALLURE 64 LTE Specifications:
- Android Lollipop - 64-bit sweetness, right out of the box
- 5.5 Inch TRU HD (720x1280) IPS Display with “2.5D”curved glass edges

- Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Ultra Scratch and Damage Resistant Glass
- CPU: 8 x 1.7GHz GHz Ultra Octa-Core 64-bit ARMv8 Cortex-A53 MT6752
- (Note we opted to go for the full speed 8 x 1.7GHz MT6752 rather than the slower 1.5Ghz MT6752m processor like some other brands. It’s our belief a phone of this level should not hold anything back.)
- GPU: Mali-T760 MP2 @ 700 MHz Graphics Processing Unit
- 3GB RAM 800MHz LPDDR3 (6.4 GB/sec)
- 16GB Flash Memory (expandable to 128GB via microSD)

- WCDMA: 850/900/1900/2100 (band5, band8, band2, band1)
- FDD-LTE: 800/1800/2100/2600 (band20, band3, band1, band7)
- Aircraft-grade Aluminium-Magnesium alloy edge frame construction with an anodized color coating
- 2900mAh Removable Lithium-Ion Power Cell (Keep in mind that our ARMv8 CPU is about 20% more power efficient than the typical ARMv7 CPUs in the market now. In other words, the name of the game is not the size of your gas tank, it’s all about fuel efficiency.)
- FAST Charge Capable + FAST Charger (Texas Instrument adaptive-fast charging design that enables 0% -> 35% charge in ~15mins)

$180? Seems a little too good to be true. I don't recognize the manufacturer though, and the quality of a phone is more than just the specs.

In terms of only the specs, yeah, they're good. Very good.

EDIT:

Quote:Despite being a powerful phone, the Allure 64 LTE is saddled with a very big issue – Android 5.0 Lollipop. While the phone has the distinction of having Android 5.0 on board, this iteration of Lollipop is buggy as heck. There’s definite lag on the UI of the phone which should not be present considering the phone’s rather powerful hardware.

Aside from the lag issues, we also encountered quite a few bugs as well. Downloads via Google Play were sometimes slow and sluggish, even though our internet connection was stable and more importantly, fast. While the issue went away, it came back after a phone restart, which is annoying especially since the Allure 64 LTE is a great phone for playing resource heavy Android games.

Other bugs include disconnecting WiFi issues and sluggish performance with games like NBA 2K15. In short, Android 5.0 is a bug ridden mess, and the Allure 64 LTE’s overall performance suffers because of the problems with the OS. Thankfully the issues are fixable since it’s a software problem though the big question now is Firefly Mobile’s track record in providing timely OTA updates for problems with their phones.

Quote:Verdict: A very good bang-for-the-buck phone if you’re willing to overlook its flaws
Firefly Mobile’s Allure 64 LTE is one of those phones that defy expectations. The 3GB of RAM would already have been a killer deal – the fingerprint scanner, 64-bit octa-core processor and LTE capability is just gravy on top of an already killer deal. While the Allure 64 LTE has flaws (and it has many), they’re not deal breakers and can be solved by a simple OTA update from Firefly Mobile. If you’re willing to live with some of the bugs in the phone and are unwilling to wait until Firefly Mobile fixes the software bugs, then the Allure 64 LTE may just be the phone for you.

I'd say root it and install a custom firmware. (If supported) That should get rid of any native 5.0 bugs.

Too good to be true, is what came to my mind at first too. Also it just came out so, bugs are expected. Other than that, I think rooting it is a good idea too.

Sounds like a kick ass phone. I wish the display was full 1920x1080p though.

It is probably made cheaply, if you got $180 to spare get it, it may actually be good.

But $180 seems way too low for those specs.

It just came out, I'm not gonna say anything until I actually have a good look and feel for the phone.

I'd be very careful at that price. Also, it's a Mediatek chip rather than a Qualcomm or Samsung Exynos. Still ARM, but I'd be cautious about it without doing more research.

Pretty good specs for $180.

Although this Is not as good (and on a different platform), you can't get a better deal for $39:

Lumias are great entry-level and basic use 'smartphones'. A year back I did some product testing for Nokia and really enjoyed the phones. Not for power usage, though.

Much agree.

I actually purchased the Nokia Lumia 532 for $39. I must say, for general navigation around the net, It's very responsive and stable.
