Windows 10 To Be Sold On USB Flash Drive - mothered - 06-26-2015 Greetings everyone, As the RTM/Official release date of Windows 10 Is scheduled for the end of next month, news has come to hand that It may well be sold on a USB Flash Drive- ready for Installation. Given Microsoft are offering the free upgrade to Windows 10, In my views, I believe the upgrade Is a marketing ploy to get consumers Interested In the OS, thereby purchasing the product for additional Installations thereafter. The details may be a little sketchy, however It could be a certainty. Quote:According to information allegedly obtained by German news site WinFuture, some retail versions of Windows 10 will be sold on preloaded USB flash drives. Quote:Apparently, there won’t be separate USB flash drives for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 10. Furthermore, the site says that both Home and Pro versions of Windows 10 will be available for sale on USB sticks. First rip the ISO of the disc (or finding a safe ISO online) then extracting on the USB. RE: Windows 10 To Be Sold On USB Flash Drive - fesada - 06-26-2015 I believe that after 1 year, you have to get a paid subscription to get updates RE: Windows 10 To Be Sold On USB Flash Drive - mothered - 06-26-2015 (06-26-2015, 11:27 AM)fesada Wrote: I believe that after 1 year, you have to get a paid subscription to get updates Yes, I have to agree with you here. It's the first time Microsoft are offering a free upgrade for the successor of an OS, and I was always wondering whether there's a catch Involved. Perhaps It's become a lot more clearer now. As with every OS since the release of Windows 3.1 back In the mid 90s, I've never paid for an operating system to date. Have no Illusions, the moment I get my hands on the RTM, I'll Inline patch It, embed the activation and remove the subscription strings(s). Yes, I've read reports on this a little while back and It seems Microsoft are branding "Windows 10" for It's future releases. Although details are sketchy at the moment, It seems like future releases of the OS will be similar to that of an upgrade- keeping "Windows 10" Intact, but perhaps adding a version-type (number, build etc) Instead. You never know, though. Down the road Microsoft could start to build another operating system if the reports of Windows 10 being the last major release. |
