[Android] Youtube Background Playback - Eclipse - 06-11-2015

As per @Oni's request in his thread, here's my tutorial for

How to Play YouTube in the Background

Note that this tutorial only covers rooted and android phones.

Google are an annoying bunch. On one hand, they make some pretty cool shit, but on the other, they limit that shit to make the most money they can. Recently, they stopped allowing YouTube to be played in the background on android phones, but instead made users pay for the function.

Prerequisites:
  • An Android Phone (ROOTED) (Android 4.0.3+)
  • The YouTube App (duh)
  • A dick
The Steps:
  1. First of all, you should head over to this link and install the Xposed Installer Framework.
  2. Install the apk and open the app. Grant it root access if requested. You'll probably have an alert on the framework tab. Select it and follow the onscreen instructions to install Xposed. Your phone will reboot.
  3. Once you've completed the above step, open Xposed again and click modules. Search for 'YouTube Background Playback'. Select it and install it. You may have to enable it after installing it.
  4. Reboot.
  5. ???
  6. Profit.

My android already does this I believe and its not rooted. I could be getting confused with the music player but oh well. I do play youtube a lot on it though.

Yeah, some music players like Apollo already have this, but this thread is covering the official YouTube app.
