Who Drives or Knows How To Drive A Standard? - ねこまっしぐら - 05-30-2015 My car is a has a manual transmission, @Chromium's car has a manual transmission, and @roger_smith has a manual transmission. So the question of this thread is who really knows how to drive a stick shift car? Who has a car with a stick shifter? Maybe even a car with paddle shifters. Spoiler: Here are some advanced racing tipsAs you may know, most standard cars are equiped with a 5 speed transmission. The shiftier will have this pattern on it. Once you are in the fifth gear, your wheels will be going at the same RPM as your engine. Now from here, you want to shift into the R. The R stand for [R]acing. You want to shift from fifth directly into R. This is the same thing as overdrive. Remember, I am not responsible for anything that happens to your car. Every car is different. RE: Who Drives or Knows How To Drive A Standard? - Earth - 05-30-2015 I can drive manual but I prefer automatic. No human error, faster shifts. Plus I like to be more concentrated and manual can get distracting sometimes and annoying. That's the same reason why some drag racers have automatic cars. More consistency. RE: Who Drives or Knows How To Drive A Standard? - Chromium - 05-30-2015 It's true my DD is a stick, I actually enjoy driving so I prefer it that way. Well drag racing is what I am going to be doing soon. When my car is done and if you want to drive here then I won't mind dragging you. But I don't got time for challenges dragging is for fun not for who is better or faster. As long as I smell those fumes of gas, get speed and the adrenaline pumping I don't care about loosing. People around here run 9 seconds and below I should hit around 11 seconds by 2016 I am not going to go crazy with my car. it has to be still alright to use for a DD. One time I was with my friend and his purge system was going into the cabin. We were hotboxing with laughing gas. Where are you located and I will think about it because I do not have a truck to tow my car with and I am not going to drive it like 1,000 miles and drag it the same day when its done up. If it is going to be your daily driver, then it should be able to go 1,000 miles without a tuneup. |
