Youtube Channel - Earth - 05-11-2015
I am not really a camera type of person but I been thinking about filming my off-grid adventure on Youtube when I get started with it if I am able to get fairly priced broadband internet.
What do you think about this idea? is it worth it I would probably only upload every few days.

Off-grid means you will not be connected to the power grid with power lines.
I will be living in the hills/woods in a camper and eventually a small cabin with wind and solar power. I will have rain water collection systems. If there is a near-by creek then I will run a ram-pump to bring the water to the camper. Toilets will be either an out-house with composting or indoors with composting. Shower will be out-doors gravity fed.
Yes a WI-FI Hotspot is technically not an off-grid thing but most people do it anyway. You can still have some modern conveniences while living off-grid.

With all due respect @fire, it is not worth it. I am absolutely with you when it comes to recording your adventure since it'll stay as a memory for you and your family. However, opening a channel on youtube and editiing/cutting your videos would just make your life harder than recording them for memories. I have tried this once with my friends and regretted it. I hope i have helped here

That's a good point. I did not think about the editing/cutting.

@fire the biggest thing is that you need to have passion for what you're doing. If you're passionate about it and want to share it with people, I say make the videos. If your motivation is strictly to try and get dat paper, it may not work out so well. It takes a long time to get established and make any type of income from youtube videos.
I'm doing the homesteading thing, and I really want to make videos as well. The problem for me is time, I don't really have time to do the stuff I need to do AND edit the videos. I also lack a good camera.
At teh same time, if you are really just looking to share the fun stuff you're doing, I think you should make a channel. You may even get advice from others with the same mindset and learn some things.

Well I will have time and think it would be great to video record actual off-grid/homesteading work to show people what its like out there living that kind of life. I don't plan to video record every single day because that could get out of hand so maybe ever 2 or 3 days I will put a video up or if I have extra time then throw another one up if something comes up that is worth filming.
I don't want money yes I understand I could throw youtube ads on my videos and if my subscriber base grows it could bring me thousands but I do not plan on using the ads.
I am on a budget range though so the only camera I have is a Emerson HD Action Cam which is trash but I guess its alright for $25 but I found a Nikon COOLPIX S3600 for $95 so I will grab that since its at least true 720P unlike the Emerson and it has pretty decent audio.
I cannot and will not go over $100 on a Camera.
