Need Help Function Keys not working - OversouL - 03-29-2015

Before anything else. I can't find an appropriate section for this thread, so I just decided to put it here.

The problem is my function keys from f1-f12 are not working. It used to work without pressing the [fn] key from the keyboard. Example, when I press [f11] it should mute my laptop and when I press [fn]+[f11] it should make my browser go on fullscreen.

Now when I press [f11] it brings my browser to full screen, but when I try to press [fn]+[f11] it doesn't mute, but still brings my browser to fullscreen.

The settings in the BIOS seem to be fine, but I don't know where to find the settings for it on windows. I tried google and I can't find something that solves this. I'd appreciate someones help. Smile

If my description of the problem isn't clear please lmk.

EDIT: Nevermind! Thanks for reading the thread though. I accidentally fixed it, but I didn't know what I really did. XD But if anybody can still answer how to fix this issue, it might help others.

Step 1: Try using the on-screen keyboard's F numbers, if works it's probably hardware problem, solution replace keyboard. If not see step 2.

Step 2: If step 1 failed, it probably some software problem so test the keyboard on another computer if possible, or see if a new software is affecting the keyboard.

Mine has done similar things before and it was solved by hitting a modifier key like ctrl or fn. I've also had it resolve on a restart.

It's not a hardware or software problem. It's the settings, thanks for the help though. I already accidentally fixed it. XD

Well it HAS to be either hardware or software, there isn't anything else really (obviously firmware, but that's another talk).

In this case if it's a setting, that's a software issue. You probably had a bug in the software that makes the Fn keys work how they do. It may have restarted or something and that's now why it works properly.

Probably or it could be that my sister pressed something while I'm away every week.
