Sexism in Videogames - Mom - 12-14-2014 So an often bashed, dismissed, or otherwise trolled subject is that of possible sexism in videogames, a topic that SJW's and hardcore feminists are often far too quick to jump into, thus giving the subject a vile and gross name to the point where people pretty much don't want to talk about it because only stupid people talk about it and people really don't want to look stupid unless they really are stupid. Stupid. I'm pretty much curious as to the opinion of SL on whether or not you guys think sexism is truly a problem, or even exists for that matter, in the general videogame world. The more in-depth and explained your opinion is, the far better grasp we can get upon how you think of this way, for remember, while we may possibly agree on something, maybe we do for completely different reasons. Personally, I think of it as complete fucking bonkers to insinuate that there's any kind of grand sexist scheme beyond, and this is just me throwing the believers of it a bone, that maybe it's just out of tradition due to us always have to save the princess back in the day. Then again, saying that it's sexist to save a princess simply because she's female still comes off as a bit contrived. The so-called 'sexism' in videogames is something I see as a cancer pushed by the believers of 'women's rights'. I mean, let's break it down to it's core. If we truly abide by the wishes of this vocal minority and cleanse out anything seen as 'sexism' in video games, it'll do little more than accelerate the biggest thing going wrong with video games currently: The constant struggle to appeal to the wide audience. This comes down to adding action elements to horror games. Adding stealth elements to action games ( a la Hotline Miami, where it truly makes no sense ). Adding love stories to tragic games like Dark Souls. It's stupid, it's another route to it, and, again, it's a cancer. There is no sexism, it's just a whiny complaint made by a group who has nothing better to do. For God's sake, they had an uproar because of Bic releasing pink pens. Meanwhile, they totally ignore the female oppression in the middle east, far too comfortable in the U.S./U.K./etc. where they don't have to do much work aside from opening their mouths or typing a few minutes about something they practically have little to no knowledge about. This isn't aided by the fact that the 'flagships' of the movement really ridicule themselves, inventing reasons why games are sexist. First thing that comes to mind is an apparently famous woman who began killing prostitutes in Hitman and began dragging their corpses around, stating that this glorified the murder of women, completely ignoring the fact that you get punished in-game for committing these acts. Anyhoo, I rambled a bit more than anything else, so: Thoughts? RE: Sexism in Videogames - cr33pyguy - 12-14-2014 I have to say that there is sexism in videogames. There is and there will probably always be. There is sexism in everything, honestly... But saying that companies aren't allowed to make videogames that have no strong female characters is like saying that there should be men included in ads for female razors, or otherwise they're sexist... If females were the demographic that the game was aimed at, there would be female characters and other things that would help the game be more immersive for females. Therefore, there will be more videogames directed at females - they're the growing demographic. RE: Sexism in Videogames - EXiLE - 12-14-2014 While video games will have sexism/racism/sexual orientation/feminism issues, nothing has really bothered me unless it's something on another degree of stupid. Example: "OMG (insert character) is black AND gae it's musts bes raciststss!!!" -bi-les-straight feminist. RE: Sexism in Videogames - lux - 12-14-2014 How the fuck can a content creators choice on something that isn't real be sexist? Also males game more than females, fact. Are you a fucking Communist? Have you been listening to that Jew, Anita Sarkeesian? Why should women demand higher pay when they're already paid equally? The entire "women get paid less than men" deal is bullshit because some women, including pregnant women, ASK for part-time jobs instead of full-time.
