Web Design & Graphics Forum - Justice_mybb_import8175 - 06-02-2014 Hello [username]! I have been thinking about starting a forum for web designers and graphic designers. It would allow others to share and suggest ideas towards others ideas/designs. Everyone from HC would be welcome and encouraged to check it out once its up. Let me know what you think of this idea below. RE: Web Design & Graphics Forum - bluedog.tar.gz - 06-02-2014 Each day new forums are born, a day after they die. Why would I join yours and not a big one? i.e gfxforums.net Forums these days lack originality, a good(g)ui, good community spirit. RE: Web Design & Graphics Forum - kasakari - 06-02-2014 I would have to agree with @bluedog.tar.gz . Building a community especially with something as broad as a web design and graphics forum would be a large undertaking mostly because you would have to set yourself apart in a way that would make people prefer your community over the larger ones they are already a part of. You would also need to build up your traffic which is no small undertaking as well. I do have a forums but I only use them as a development area and playground for ideas I come up with which works great for me. My advice would be to make a Dev area to mess around on with a few friends and then see if it's something you truly wish to pursue long-term. I am currently working on a few things so a dev website is actually a good idea. If you would like to learn about some of the stuff im working on you can PM me, I just ask that you keep it secret. A new forum can't grow big in a day or two and not even a year is enough. After about 2 yrs and with constant support of their members it can finally grow. Content is all that matters. Also instead of a good UI I think a simple and easier, less complex UI is more impportant. About the community spirit, yes that is something which is needed the most and rest can become easier. I wasn't saying it is necessarily because it have to be big, I just gave another option I could join "Why would I join yours and not a big one? i.e gfxforums.net". Content is indeed a big part to participate on forums, else the forums have no use ofcourse
