New!!! Humans.txt Implementation - XTRMS4NITY - 05-26-2014

Hello everyone, and just as I planned to create some noise in this thread so that this won't fill this with SEO software for sale.

I never heard of this before until I read some post about this. I bet you haven't heard about humans.txt, too.

There's something special about this because this is very opposite to robots.txt. This one will cater the human visitors.

This txt file is easy to implement and has three categories that will give you a hint on what to write on it.

Keep in mind that it should be encoded in UTF-8 to avoid problems with format/special characters and stuff.

Even Google implemented this on their website. You can visit it here: google.com/humans.txt

You have to upload it in the root folder of your website if I have not mentioned it yet.

Now here are the three categories:

1. TEAM - Write something informative about the team who made the website possible.
2. THANKS - If you asked/received a help from an external source, you can also place their website in your discretion.
3. SITE - You may state what software was used to help the team create the website and the last time it was updated. Just put a timestamp.

Here is Google's Humans.txt File:

"Google is built by a large team of engineers, designers, researchers, robots, and others in many different sites across the globe. It is updated continuously, and built with more tools and technologies than we can shake a stick at. If you'd like to help us out, see google.com/careers."

If you don't know how to write it, visit here: http://humanstxt.org/humans.txt - it's a template.

My thought is that this one is nonsense because there's a page called "About Page" that will inform your visitors who you are. I bet this is not a ranking factor because a robot can't understand what you write in it but there are hundreds if not thousands who says that this is a ranking factor and one of them is Alex Safie - an internet marketer.

Anything that can move the needle will help but I have no faith in this one. Biggrin

I want to hear your thoughts, just leave a comment/post below.
