Game development - salesh - 05-13-2014 I am interested in game development i searched over forum and didn't found that anybody talked about it.(correct me if i am wrong) 1)Where to start ? 2)Your suggestion what to learn? Regards, salesh RE: Game development - Netero_mybb_import16981 - 05-13-2014 Hello ![]() Game development is basically putting an Idea in the digital world. You can use a programming language to create your game or use programs and tools such as Flash. But I have to warn you It is a pretty hard subject, Game development takes time and patience its a very challenging field, there will be times where you don't even want to get near to your computer ...etc I don't want to scare you I'm just being honest with you, I want you to try it maybe you will love it and maybe not but you cannot learn that unless you try.Where to start : There isn't a starting point, you will have an idea of a game "example snake game" and you will try to get your idea on computer, you will use a lot of Google since you might not/don't know how you can implement that idea. if you want to get familiar with Game Programming, there are a lot of videos on Youtube and many threads/blogs on the internet, I don't know if I can refer to you to the links or not but its pretty easy search Google for the game that you want to create. My suggestion Start by creating a small game on tutorials , My suggestion is either Ping Pong or Snake Game , then go to something else like Super Mario. These games you might think of them as simple, but there are a lot of mechanisms under them. @salesh Forgot to tell you the reason for using tutorials is getting you familiar to the game development industry & mechanisms , what can you do / what you cannot do. After you finish those three games on tutorial or not I believe you can start a simple two dimension game Regards Netero RE: Game development - TheDeceptionist - 05-13-2014 Hello @salesh , Game development is a vast subject and to be frank is pretty hard to master. I would suggest that you first familiarize yourself with programming in general and then go further with game programming platforms such as XNA. I suggest you start by learning c++ ( i.e. , if you haven't ). RE: Game development - salesh - 05-13-2014 (05-13-2014, 01:51 PM)Netero Wrote: HelloThank you very much for effort and this answer ! ![]() And yea probably that will be my way, i learned C so i will try to make snake and ping pong with C language. I read a lot and there is a bunch of different ways...Some say C someone C++ someone C# someone python ..etc I was impressed with NORDEUS HACKATHON link So if you have something more to say me or some link or anything I would be grateful you to PM me ![]() Regards salesh (05-13-2014, 03:05 PM)XxGreenLanternxX Wrote: Hello @salesh , Thank you for the contribution ![]() Yea "vast subject" is my biggest motivation ![]() I learned C and probably i will now go for C++. Is not XNA dead ? ![]() Regards, salesh RE: Game development - TheDeceptionist - 05-14-2014 (05-13-2014, 08:33 PM)salesh Wrote: Is not XNA dead ?Its true Microsoft has stopped supporting XNA but it still works. If you don't want to use XNA , I suggest that you take a look at OpenGL (c++ I believe) and Unity c#. Also do some googling on SharpDx toolkit. RE: Game development - Inori - 05-27-2014 Good places to start would be the C family, batch (for text-based stuff), and minecraft, if you can believe it. Check out this channel to see what I'm talking about. And yes @XxGreenLanternxX OpenGL is C++. It's pretty tough though. RE: Game development - salesh - 05-27-2014 Hi @"Jinxed" thanks for the contribution i am in process learning c and i am going for this summer on c++ , can you be more precise why batch?I watched clips i am interested to hear from you why minecraft ? ![]() Regards, salesh RE: Game development - Ex094 - 05-27-2014 If you plan on going for making big games like FPS then Learn C++ hard, also you'll be needing some mathematical skills along the way like Vectors and stuff. Some good Game engines to design games are the Unreal Engine and Unity3D. It was going pretty well but it got too complicated for me with all the markers, stats, etc.. I guess if you have enough focus, it's easier. And the channel I linked regarding minecraft, that guy is probably one of the best in that area. The only coding you would need for it is knowledge of minecraft commands and JSON (which I'm pretty sure is either C or Java related). A nice thing about minecraft is you don't need to worry about the player environment and you can change/make a resource pack any time. RE: Game development - RA1N - 06-17-2014 For beginner purposes I would really look into Unity3D. There are several series of videos on youtube by 'TornadoTwins' that covers a broad range of games with code descriptions. |
