I don't have any wireless wifi connection network which can be used for hacking via BT5 (any ways just tell me what are the things one could do with backtrack 5 than using it for wifi hacking?)

but that requires some skills.
though you'd see many backtrack 5 tutorials on this forum, you can try them.

Just play with it, explore new things, master them, create tools... anything you want Biggrin

You can play games, check your emails, watch movies, listen to music, program apps, you can even turn it off and leave it that way, the same thing I did to Windows 40 years ago... which is weird because I am 35 and Windows didn't exist 40 years ago! (this could only happen in HC)

Seriously... I don't think that you are even the least close to be ready to explore "pentesting" side of BT5/Kali

@ OP Back on topic this has been answered well already you can do anything you could do with any other Linux distribution WiFi is a tiny part of it and I have no idea why people think you'd write an entire operating system just to recover wireless keys.

Its like having a toolbox full of tools, you can do a lot of things with the tool included. Each tool serves a purpose. You need to check out every tool one by one. Start exploring.

Anyway, I even asked this question once in the IRC channel (#kali-linux): "Why use Kali and not Debian?", answer was ... because of the menu Biggrin

The argument was not as simple as it sounds, and I said it before... "The only reason I use BT5/Kali is because I like the logo (the dragon)", sounds stupid, but ... if you think about this closely you may see that I am right! There is nothing that proves that Kali can pentest better than Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, ArchLinux, Fedora... etc. (even Windows!!!)

Exactly, other than the dragons and other "cool" aesthetics I think convenience plays a but part. It takes a long time to install and configure a pentesting platform, so if someone else has done all the work for you why not use it.

@chmod I think you are right, maybe that's why I started using BT3 (a while ago)!
@Geoff I agree with you... in fact I am thinking about switching to Debian or something else (I am still searching) ... I hate Ubuntu because I think it is so... celebrity (over rated)! I don't know how to explain it...

I also use Mint on my personal computer (mini-laptop), I also use Dynebolic (for multi-media and composing music)

I hate to ask people about what I should use (when it comes to OS), I think that all distributions are good one way or another, but one may consider this:
