RE: bought a second hand laptop but cant get in... - commander - 01-05-2014 Yes..the best way to reset the bios password is to physically remove the cmos battery for 5 min then put it again and use it. Or you can look for jumper you can remove it for a while and insert it again. I cant help you with that encryption thing. I would suggest formatting it, and installing a new OS if you dont want the old files. RE: bought a second hand laptop but cant get in... - hunt3r972 - 01-06-2014 Maybe try to find vulnerability for the bios used. My teacher talked about that and it seems that this can work because some BIOS are vulnerable to a specific kind of attack EDIT: I checked my courses and found this: Basically this is not possible for laptops but sometimes backdoors exist for bios (you will have to pay for this service http://www.laptopcity.eu). You can try to find a backdoor for your laptop on google typing « bypass password [computer name or bios]. But you will have to check if it's always available. You can also use softwares like cmospasswd, killCmos, !BIOS. They will work with a live CD if the startup is not protected with a password. Finally you can use websites like http://dogber1.blogspot.fr/2009/05/table-of-reverse-engineered-bios.html to generate passwords based on the computer serial number. This is a list of website you can check: http://www.plasma-online.de/ http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/reference/biosp.htm http://www.phenoelit-us.org/dpl/dpl.html http://www.passwordone.com/ http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/ RE: bought a second hand laptop but cant get in... - DaPaus - 01-06-2014 After some research I have to take my statement back. Resetting the CMOS will not work, an HP Elitebook was made for businesses and to put an extra layer of protection the BIOS Password is saved on a seperate chip. So resetting the BIOS configurations will not work. You could try to contact Costumer Support but you will have to proof your ownership and Dell Costumer Support doesn't have a great reputations. |
