How Much Self-Control Do You Have? - Enigma_mybb_import12474 - 07-13-2013

Firstly, What exactly is Self-control?
Self control is the ability to control one's emotions, behaviour and desires. In psychology it is sometimes called self-regulation.

Behaviour Analysis reveals that Self-control is directly related to the pressure you face. It can either be one of the following:
* Good Pressure: When you are in a competitive yet non-judgemental and non-prejudicial environment, you want to be like those around you. You become motivated and inspired and gain self-control.
* Bad Pressure: When you are in a judgemental and prejudicial environment and there is no competition you become depressed and unmotivated. You lose self-control.
* No Pressure: When you are free and there is no competition, you do what you feel. Your self-control is based on how you feel and since there is no one to compare yourself to, you may be less.

If you ask about me, well, I can adjust my self-control accourding to the conditions. But not for long.Biggrin
Question: How can one increase their amount of self-control? Do you consider yourself to be impulsive or careful?

Mostly impulsive, but usually I realize what I'm doing. Lately I've been very calm in situations where I used to be very aggressive.

Often times in arguments/debates is where I get aggressive. Even after calming down on my own, I still feel like it's my responsibility to leave someone better than they were when I first saw them, in the case of an argument, I want them to be right. But at the same time they probably feel the same way, but are more aggressive which makes them more stubborn, just how I am, but I'm getting better, luckily.

Most of the time i can control my desires. I can also control most of my emotions. However when it comes to anger the only self control i have is enough to stop myself from killing you. but not far from it...

I am careful. I don't lose my temper or self-control. I have good decidability about different situations and at different times. I don't make decisions hurriedly, Whenever any situation arises I keep my self cool and listen to both sides and then ask myself about what is right. I am like a beam balance as I always do what should be and must be done and taking care of both the sides.

Ques: How to improve self-control ?

Answer :

1. Put down your ego
2. Commit to yourself. Be true and faithful to yourself
3. Judge everyone equally as this instigates a feeling of satisfaction which helps in being self controlled
4. gain knowledge and don't be a moneymouth.
5. Reaffirm the core things you believe in.
6. Use your heart to decide but don't let it take you over. (I don't believe this point now in my IRL due to some bad reasons)
7. Improve your attention
8. Think abstract
9. Win over your self-odds and improve your weaklings
10. The most important of all :- Meditate. Mediation improves everything.
