A little problem. - Saintish - 07-12-2013

Hello guys o_o i need a suggestion.
So basicly the problem is these guys are hosting a Minecraft server on OVH. And few guys from staff figured well we will create our own server... They copied all the ideas everything well the Owner said yeah let them have it and told them ill leave u your Moderator status and everything here. Then they figured we need people and started massive spam so Owner ofc banned them. Well that wasnt enough for them they started DDoS and Syn Floods and OVH at this time doesnt have a free firewall for now that they could rent. So this server is getting DDoSed like 20 times a day. And we came there to talk to them like what the hell are they trying to do people are trying to enjoy there time playing so they banned us too. Well i could DDoS them myself but i cant do it alone ^_^. And they have massive proxy lists. Any software you could offer agains DDoS or something? Or someone smart wants to show them that they shouldnt do that by DDoSing them few times ^_^ idk Suggestions.

I like how you state you could ddos them yourself but cant do it yourself... a bit contradictory no? lol

Any ways the best ddos mitigation techniques happen at thd network layer. By the time it hits your mc server its too late. You might be able to mitigate it a tad with custom firewall rules (iptables) but that is done on a custom basis. I would need to see the ddos attack myself to get a feel for what might work. Its not a matter of just installing norton firewall 2013...

I'm not so familiar with windows ddos mitigating how ever you could try to install wireshark and sniff the packets while a DDoS takes place ( Don't get kicked out of RDC Tongue )

After that you could try blocking the IP assuming its coming from 1 or less then 10 if you are lucky.
