Hacker Toolkit - Stacked vs. Tabs - RogueCoder - 06-30-2013

I have a request for comments regarding the design of my vulnerability scanner...

What does you guys think look best? Displaying stacked or tabbed results? Please also explain why you like your selection the best

if you've already programmed both, why not include both? That way the user could choice which design they prefer with the click of a button.

Tabbed will give you more space for details and will make the results more clear. However stacked gives you a quick overview, so, why not combine them?
Make it tabbed with details regarding each finding and then a "Summary" which will be stacked and provide just basic info (for example for quick data processing).

This way, you can have the executives see the quick summary (they don't care about details) and then give the detailed results to the IT guyz who would appreciate the tabs for being clear Smile

I would go with the above suggestion on the merit of serving both tasks as a whole.
Even though I'll never have any personal use for such a tool since I prefer the use of my own or other modified tools for my own aforementioned use.

Tabbed is better:
- it organizes things better;
- it uses less space;
- the impact effect is less brutal (at the very first view, a user is encouraged to take in depth with it as it looks easier and simpler);
- it lets you focus on one thing per time, giving you less changes to deconcentrate.

Stacked is better:
- general view;
- user doesn't need to switch between tabs to see the whole content, he finds everything without doing anything;
- it lets you focus on everything all at once.

Now, these are the pros for each solution, which are mainly (the pros of) one the opposite of (the pros of) the other.

I personally probably prefer tabs, at least for this project, for the pros aforementioned. Just pick your pros-style.

Thanks for the feedback, and I do like the idea of an overview, followed by tabs per vuln. So I wrote a quick code for it, and here's the result at the moment
