[Walkthrough] Hackademic - Root This Box 1 - RogueCoder - 05-19-2013

The Hackademic Root This Box 1 challenge is a realistic hacker challenge with a specific objective. Gain root access and read the content of key.txt located in /root/ and I'll explain how my approach was.

So, it has been about a year since I started moving into the world of web application hacking, and I decided to go back and do this challenge again. I haven't looked at it since I wrote the original walkthrough, so I had forgotten most of it.

Compared to last time I won't use sqlmap for sql injection. Everything will be done manually, so just FYI, this is NOT skid friendly.

I did record a video where I explain every step and why I do the things I do. Hopefully this will make it less scary Smile

I've been trying to solve the RTB2, but I'm struggling with bypassing the port knocking :wacko: Also, suggestion accepted Smile
