Read this before aiming to be a hacker - Madderc - 05-02-2013 First of all a small explanation about why I made this thread. I made it in "Hacking Tutorials" because I assume that every new member that wants to become a hacker should come here before long. I also do not own anything on the link I'm about to paste. I posted it here because I feel it is a really important read for anyone who wants to be a hacker and maybe even hackers themselves could learn a lot from this. It is a really long read but I assure you it is more than worth it, take your time and read it even if you take a few days doing it. If you are wanting to become a hacker but are thinking "meh this is too much to read, I'll just go look for something magical that will turn me into a hacker in 1 hour"... then the sad news is, you will probably never be a hacker or you will just get bored with it and give up. Now that the introduction has been made, here is the link I talked about: I recommend everyone to read this, I read it and it completely changed my life, not just things having to do with computers or hackings, but literally my whole life! Hope it helps anyone

There is much insight in the publication that can be learned from and used in a myriad of ways. RE: Read this before aiming to be a hacker - chmod - 05-02-2013 It's a good read indeed thanks for the share, but at the risk of starting a discussion that veers dangerously off topic I disagree with the author stating Ubuntu is the best choice. Sure it's easy for newbies to get to grips with but in recent releases seems to have lost it's way focusing more on profit than than the community that created it, with amazon ads built in to desktop searches and such. I would assume by the context of the statement made by the Author the it is to be inferred as directly related to a new user on the merit of numerous companies and entities using it as a base before actually tweaking it to their own specific needs (infer companies and entities). Google uses Ubuntu for all aspects of their daily use internally after tweaking the interface for *Goobuntu*, packages, and the like of which results in Goobuntu used for engineering, development, website design, product design... As a realistic, primary example of why the author specifically mentions Ubuntu as a first and foremost "best choice". RE: Read this before aiming to be a hacker - chmod - 05-02-2013 That's a fair point it may also be due to the fact the release of the offending version was after the last update of the document. Goobuntu looks interesting it's a shame there is no official release. RE: Read this before aiming to be a hacker - Madderc - 05-02-2013 Oh yay I've given 69 thanks.... ehheheheheh Off topic, move on xD RE: Read this before aiming to be a hacker - Linuxephus™ - 05-02-2013 (05-02-2013, 08:25 PM)chmod Wrote: That's a fair point it may also be due to the fact the release of the offending version was after the last update of the document. I had taken that into account, yet was too lazy to publicly include it in my comment after figuring you'd cover that very subject for me instead. Eh...it is available for release and it is official within Google company channels themselves. @Madderc Nobody wants to leave your thread. It makes us feel all warm and squishy inside. Group hugs!:lub: RE: Read this before aiming to be a hacker - chmod - 05-02-2013 Oh I couldn't find a link to it with the quick search I did, and the article you pointed out to me said there was no commercial release but is widely used within Google |
