Hello Hack Community,
So, recently, there's been a reputation reset and there's been a lot of reactions regarding that. So, I thought of asking your opinion about reputations. My question is, do you find reputations meaningful ??
The two types of feedback I'd give about it :
1. They differentiate noobs from elites.(Like a unit for measurement of knowledge)
2. They can be used for showing respect to people you admire.
OR
1. They are meaningless because they are given by humans.
2. You may +rep a noob whoz your friend for no reason.
Whats your opinion?

Well , About Reputation now ? , no no it is Love meter Actually .
The Reputation earned was for what members has done , not for just want to give or something ,
They earned it , that because they did something valuable , and now ? look my reputation description for example
, Just for share the love and remember the past things , But it's is okay, peeps are now will be active as i saw some MODS also become active because of reset the reputation ,
in the future from now they will earn for what they will do , fair enough , !

Agreed with @Shining White, Reputations are not tend to show power, they actually differentiate people who have done valuable work for the community

I think if one does good work with posting articles and helping others then he will get recognition from others itself , no need of those green numbers. Also , Is recognition important ??
In my opinion --> NO , Someone in a community comes to help others and to help himself by gaining valuable knowledge from others , and that's it , helping and gaining knowledge is more important than recognition or Reps.
I think it in this way .

Recognition or Reps are important too because they somehow motivates you to gain/share more.

In my honest opinion, only popular members gain reputation. It has nothing to do with knowledge, trust, etc.
The more members you know, and they know you, the more the reputation.
Thanks received is a better indicator of contribution by the member.

Rep shows your status on a site. The more people like you, the more rep you gain. Many people think high reputable members are more trusted.
Rep depends on your social skills online.
