I love World Of Tanks... good game, F2P, don't have to pay much to level up.
AA3 is good. Only multi-player, but all around decent FPS for free.

HALFLIFE DEATHMATCH. fast gameplay, no hacks, lack of waiting to respawn, easy to run, reliable servers, good challenge, cheap, tons of game mechanics, different weapons each with different abilities, and overall just yes.

You can search things like 'top browser games' but really there aren't many good games.
A few I can think of are:
- RuneScape
- World of Tanks
- Quake Live

If you're looking for browser....add Phosphor to the list as well as Darkorbit. But not so much Darkorbit anymore. Was a top notch browser game in '07 when I joined as a 5th million player. With now 80 million, they inspired innovation and of course the old Darkorbit client, music, ship models, etc were trashed and a "newer" crap version of everything was spawned. It's awful now. But can still give it a try anyway.
RuneScape is....eh.

If you're looking to play a good game, generally you'll have to download it.
I have a friend who plays TERA and recommended that to me.
The graphics are good but I don't have the time for MMOs...

I'd say San Andreas Multiplayer [Roleplay ]is the best Online game.
