Math Problem - J4W3S - 03-31-2013 Hey, so i was revising for a math exam in a thew weeks and found this question, integrate 1/6x^2 i keep getting -6x^-1 but the answer is -1/6x^-1 . Can anyone explain this to me? RE: Math Problem - Deque - 03-31-2013 You obviously mean 1/(6x^2), which is NOT (1/6)x^2 1/(6x^2) = 1/6 * (x^-2) Now the integral of that: 1/6 * (-1) x^(-2 + 1) + c =-(1/6) * (x^-1) + c =-1/(6*x) + c RE: Math Problem - Deque - 03-31-2013 You obviously mean 1/(6x^2), which is NOT (1/6)x^2 1/(6x^2) = 1/6 * (x^-2) Now the integral of that: 1/6 * (-1) x^(-2 + 1) + c =-(1/6) * (x^-1) + c =-1/(6*x) + c |
