Hidden HD Ripping - The_Squirrel - 11-29-2012

Hello, Im wondering if there is a way to automatically copy specific types of data from external storage devices once connected to my computer without any notifications (hidden).

My OS is UBUNTU (Mint Maya)

Thanx in advance Smile

Heys, thanx for the reply, will try to look up Finnish keywords, if you know Finnish language, any specific words you suggest to look for?

if I had time (which I unfortunately don't), I'd code it for you as it's pretty simple. basically, the program would work like this (if you know how to code, you'll do it quite easily):
1. it runs in the background all the time, doing nothing except of checking if there is any external device mounted (easy, as a external device will most of the time be /dev/sda)
2. when the device is detected, it copies files with certain extension to the destination of your choice (easy to do with loops, even easier with system() calls)
3. after copying, it quits (it could also start ignoring the device and wait for a different one but it wouldn't be as simple as listening for /dev/sda, copying and quitting)
