How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - hunt3r972 - 11-08-2012 Hi all, I just want to share a phone app with you: Wardrive This app allow you to know where are located the access points on your smartphone. You just have to enable your Wifi and the GPS and it will add every access point on the MAP. Red dot means WPA secured and Orange dot means WEP secured => Easier to know which one you will choose ! In the access point list it will give you informations about the AP like the MAC address of the access point, the type of key used (WPA/WEP) and the best one: show you if WPS is enabled. Finally, the map is updated automaticaly if something is modified like the SSID or the type of security used. Enjoy your android phone ^^ RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - kruelmind - 11-08-2012 Aren't these apps dependent upon people adding the access points? Seems to me that it wouldnt be very reliable and it would be easy to miss AP's that you would pick up if doing actual wardriving RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - hunt3r972 - 11-08-2012 It doesn't. You have to keep your GPS+WIFI+3G (to load the map of your city) enabled and when you walk in the city everytime you can access to an AP, it will add it on the map so you can know where it is, the type of AP etc. For example I changed my SSID and my key for WPA. It updated it automaticaly on the map (the AP became red and the SSID was updated) RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - kruelmind - 11-08-2012 Does this detect them if the SSID is not broadcast? RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - hunt3r972 - 11-08-2012 Dunno, never give a try to this RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - kruelmind - 11-08-2012 If "hidden" SSID are not shown then you may as well stick to regular war driving. a lot of people will not broadcast the SSID thinking they are safe and just leave it unsecured or with default pwd RE: How to know where are the APs thanks to your phone - hunt3r972 - 11-08-2012 this app can't do what a computer do. It's just a good way to know where you can find APs |
