All About IP - killerOfCode - 05-03-2012

Hello again, community. Here is a little article I wrote with my spare time. Any constructive criticism, thank you's, and other are encouraged.

What is IP?
Spoiler:
IP, which stands for internet protocol, is basically the identity of the computer. The IP can be in the form of 255.255.255.255 at its highest, 0.0.0.0 at its lowest. It is the only way that we get the internet; a packet of information needs to have identification to which computer it should go to.

What is the Difference Between a Website and an IP?
Spoiler:
They are technically the same, save for the fact that website names are defined by the IP. You can ping (google.com) and it most likely will say (Windows based):

Code:
C:\Mondays\are\cool,\kaz> ping google.com Pinging google.com [74.125.225.134] with 32 bytes of data:

As you can see, the website’s name is ultimately defined by the IP address. Also, if you use a computer name in the network instead of google, you get a display similar.

What is my IP?
Spoiler:
Well, since I’m a little lazy on this one, I’ll just ask you to google it. Look up: what is my ip. Mine said:

Your public IP address is: tue.sda.y,l.awl

Any Other Information I Need to Know?
Spoiler:
Yes, I’m sure there is. Here is another way to see your IP, but mine didn’t work for it (probably because of WiFi usage). Here is what I got:

Code:
C:\Wednesday\and\Thursday\together>ipconfiga Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : hsd1.il.comcast.net. Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::3096:d64f:4edc:47b4%9 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.122 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1 C:\Friday\and\Saturday\together>

If there were any unexplained ideas that you got, please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol?day=SUNDAY, or you can reply your question.

That's it! Also, did you find all of the days in the week?

RE: All About IP - HrDe - 05-21-2012

plz edit ur post...

1. 255.255.255.255 and 0.0.0.0 never use for address because this is the broadcast address.
2. tell about CIDR
3. Also tell about Class of IP
4. Making of IPv6

then ur post completed ,Thanks for share here!

RE: All About IP - killerOfCode - 05-21-2012

RE: All About IP - killerOfCode - 03-30-2013

Wow, this post is old and highly INCORRECT. If you want, I can rewrite a new one. [I don't even have a section saying WHY the IP can be in the form of an address like google.com!!]
