Favorite Linux Distributions - Dismas - 08-23-2012 What are your favorite Linux distributions? My top 5 favorites are: Arch Linux "A lightweight and flexible Linux® distribution that tries to Keep It Simple." BackTrack "A Linux-based penetration testing arsenal that aids security professionals." Fedora "A fast, stable, and powerful operating system for everyday use." Knoppix "A compilation of GNU/Linux software, run completely from CD, DVD or flash disk." Ubuntu "A system based on Debian with frequent, regular releases and a consistent desktop interface." RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - BreakR - 08-25-2012 "consistent desktop interface." ![]() RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - Dismas - 08-25-2012 (08-25-2012, 10:29 PM)BreakR Wrote: "consistent desktop interface." Yeah - it hasn't been consistent since they got rid of Gnome. Spoiler: RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - Hardz - 08-28-2012 I've always been a big fan of Ubuntu. RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - pandaa - 09-01-2012 Same here! They're always updating it, and it has an awesome background. (yes, I like it for the background. #dealwithit) RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - Hardz - 09-04-2012 (09-01-2012, 11:11 PM)pandaa Wrote: Same here! It was nice and simple, and did what I wanted it to. They've overcluttered it now with a social bar at the side. It's a good operating system, but I don't use it now due to all the overcluttered menu's etc. It's becoming like Windows. ![]() RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - oracle - 09-09-2012 I like ubuntu but i don't really use it because you can't use some software with it. But it's useful for other things like accessing someones computer from a flash drive ![]() RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - Obey - 09-10-2012 Crunch bang is perfection. RE: Favorite Linux Distributions - ๖ۣۣۜۜFear - 09-11-2012 Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64x server, that's how I roll for servers. |
