mac filtering? - gkman - 08-30-2011 hey there. I got kicked off of the wireless network. I know the Password hasn't been changed as a fact. so I suspect that what is keeping me off of the network is the mac filtering.( if u have other suggestion please do tell) please explain to me how to get back on the network and stay hidden from anyone who might be checking. I am a total newbie so please make sure to use stupid people language. Also- I don't know if this is important but I am using windows xp- I can also run Ubuntu 11 of of my USB- (I have no access to internet from the computer i am trying to get back to the wireless network) thank you in advanced for helping RE: mac filtering? - akitta - 08-31-2011 Ok i think i can help a little. You need to boot into your Ubuntu USB. Fire up a Terminal, Type- without quotes "sudo apt-get install aircrack-ng" or you'll probably find it under Package Manager. Then you'll need macchanger - "sudo apt-get install macchanger" Use airodump-ng to monitor the access-point you wish to connect to, You'll have to wait for someone to connect to the access-point and note there MAC-add. Then you can use macchanger to change your mac-add to the one you have written down (which is allowed through the filter). There could be other ways but this will work. I use Backtrack myself as all the tools you'll need are already in with the distro. Hope this helps.. RE: mac filtering? - gkman - 09-02-2011 and I will be able to be on the network together with the guy I got the mac number from? and it wont attract unwanted attention? But you can kick the other users off with aircrack-ng program and then authenticate before the user you kicked off has a chance to. (tip: use one wireless adapter for booting the other user off and another one to authenticate to the router.) |
