Backtrack tricks - N1lavKwr - 08-27-2011 I have installed backtrack in my laptop, but it cannot connect to any available wi-fi networks. Its showing those networks but cannot connect to them.I also want to know how to remove backtrack from my pc, i also have ubuntu 11.04 installed in my pc... RE: Backtrack tricks - narc0tics - 08-27-2011 Try with a Virtual Machine or dual boot on another computer in-case that you're not known with the platform. I've never thought of deleting BackTrack from my computer, so I can't say that I know how to do. But I believe that you should go ahead and re-install your operating system. RE: Backtrack tricks - 1llusion - 08-27-2011 Hi! Make sure that you WiFi adapter is supported by BT. To remove, just format the partition where BT is I guess... then simply edit GRUB and ur done =) RE: Backtrack tricks - N1lavKwr - 08-28-2011 BT is recognizing all the wifi networks but is not connnecting to them i.e why i want to remove it. Windows is not showing the partition used by BT. RE: Backtrack tricks - N1lavKwr - 08-28-2011 BT is recognizing all the wifi networks but is not connnecting to them i.e why i want to remove it. RE: Backtrack tricks - akitta - 08-31-2011 When BT is trying to connect to the networks - Lets assume it is a WPA-PASSPHRASE protected access-point - You have to go to (if your using BT5) Applications>Internet>Wicd Network Manager - now under each bssid you will see 2 options "Connect" and "Properties" click Properties - Go to where it says "Use Encryption" under this option is a drop-down menu Choose whichever security it relevant to the access-point you are trying to connect to and fill out the required field in the "KEY" section located underneath. If the access-point is OPEN then you can just press Connect. It took me along while to get used to BT but i'm glad i persevered. Be careful of just formatting the partition where BT is located because s when you reboot it could just say ---GRUB ERROR--- and you'll not be able to Boot into windows either (you can edit Grub, but i have no idea how this is done, maybe i'll learn) RE: Backtrack tricks - N1lavKwr - 09-02-2011 I dont know as much as you know but i tried formatting the system reserved partition after formatting bt5 partition and voila it worked out. I think grub was stored in the system reserved partition so when i formatted the partition it got removed. I dont know if your systems are using system reserved(OEM) partions but my system does so its worth a try. I used win7 disk to do it... So, In Other Words You GAVE UP Just Because You Were Not Able To Connect To WIFI. RE: Backtrack tricks - N1lavKwr - 09-02-2011 Yes thats true, but the problem is that the srver here is programmed to deny any access to bt.
