lawfull loop-holes - ICE_ - 12-25-2012 Hey everybody, So, I was recently reading up on a few laws, in particular, the Computer Fraud and Abuse act ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_Fraud_and_Abuse_Act ). After studying it a bit, I realized that the law itself primarily covers government websites/financial institutions (like banks/paypal). So, For example, Anonymous' Operation payback could be covered under that act. However, The Jester for example, hit the westboro baptist church. So, Whats the difference? Well, under this act, the ONLY WAYS that could be counted as 'criminal' was if: 1. The victim was/were government website(s)/financial institution(s) (like banks/paypal). 2. The attacker was payed to attack the victim(s) and his/her/their website(s). 3. The attack caused GREATER THAN $5000 ($5000 wouldn't count, it would have to be $5001 and above). 4. The attack somehow caused PHYSICAL DAMAGE to the owners of the victim server/website (which is VERY unlikely). So, what have we learned here today? Well, we've learned that: DoS/DDoSing people/servers/websites is OKAY as long as their not government figures/websites or financial institutions, you're not getting payed, you don't cause more than $5000 worth of damage and nobody has a heart attack because their website went down. Now that you know this very valuable information, I want you to exploit it to its fullest! you can start on this minecraft server: play.nbscraft.net (port 25565) -- hold it down as long as you can ![]() *You can still be sued for DDoSing/DoSing by your victims (this would be a case of a private legal affair your lawyer versus theirs, so I would still advise using a VPN). RE: lawfull loop-holes - Evangelist - 12-25-2012 Shit this is an interesting read!
