So boot from within your current OS? Since a bootdisk to me is a disk that runs an os instead of your current os, when starting (booting) your pc...
something like VistaPE (cd ,usb, external hd..)

Just use winbuilder together with a bartpe (xp) vistape (vista) or win7pe image to create your own .iso bootable image. Since you probably want to crack the current password, you'll have to make sure you also squeeze in a password reset tool with it (NTPWEdit, Salapasswd, pwhackerxp, pwltool, ...). When you don't want to make your own .iso, just search for existing iso (but make sure it contains the 'tools' you need), or, when asked very gently, i can provide you with an existing image including the tools...keep in mind however that my current vistape image is about 300-400megs

You're right about the double post, my mistake, but it's too late now, i can't delete the second post.

One question: if you want to wipe the thing, why don't you just put in the os cd/dvd and reinstall it?

First man, you must setup in BIOS a command that he first read the CD-ROM, then when you burned CS restart PC and put it in you cd-rom, then when just click some key and follow the instructions that you have, it is very simple.. Just read the text.. You can burn an bootable disc or you can burn .iso file.. No metter BIOS will read it... FDor burning try to use Ashampoo Burning Studio !
Sorry for my bad englush, i hope you understoond me ! Biggrin

When using win7, you don't even need additional sw to burn an iso...

download, burn to disc (burn as an image !) and boot from cd (or usb). Haven't tested that version but seems ok
As KaiT_Alex mentionned before, make sure your cd is set as primary bootable option in your bios (or usb when using an usb key/disk)
