DO NOT INSTALL PASTEBIN DESKTOP! - ShawnReynolds - 11-15-2014 I installed Pastebin desktop on my laptop, and it put a virus/malware on my hard drive. The malware it put on my hard drive is mrtstub, this might not be a malicious software, but after some research on it, it seems that it is. So I strongly suggest that you do not install pastebin's desktop client. I had never used pastebin before, and I was curious, so I downloaded and installed it, and I saw this file on my hard drive. I searched it up, found out what it is. I did not know what put it there at first, but when I uninstalled pastebin, the file was completely removed. EDIT: Because people seem to be having trouble reading the entire thread: THIS IS A FALSE POSITIVE. THERE WAS NOTHING MALICIOUS. IF YOU POST ANYTHING ABOUT "THX FOR LETTING ME KNOW, GLAD I DIDN'T DOWNLOAD, DER DER" YOU'RE A COMPLETE SKID WHO SHOULD BE KICKED SQUARE IN THE NUTZ. Original Post: You probably didn't install a legitimate piece of software. Do you still have the installer you ran? RE: DO NOT INSTALL PASTEBIN DESKTOP! - roger_smith - 11-15-2014 save it, go download fciv.exe and do a file checksum on it EDIT: fciv download http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841290 RE: DO NOT INSTALL PASTBIN DESKTOP! - Senka - 11-15-2014 (11-15-2014, 03:18 AM)ShawnReynolds Wrote: I installed Pastebin desktop on my laptop, and it put a virus/malware on my hard drive. So a site that's been up since 2000 has been distributing malware to over 100,000 people over 14ish years? Ok. Hey, Google is older that that, and they have almost always sold users information.
