Upgrade Prices - Oni - 09-04-2014 A couple of people have said that the prices for upgrades were not desirable. I was wondering what you guys think a reasonable price would be for them. What would you personally pay? Are they too high or too low? What could be added to increase the value? Share your opinions. RE: Upgrade Prices - Eclipse - 09-04-2014 I'd love to just have a fixed price for Gold that'd befit my rank and time here, that I could concentrate to save up for. You would like the price to be dynamic and based off of your contributions and time registered? Also, I didn't get a notification when you quoted me. RE: Upgrade Prices - Nyx - 09-09-2014 I think the prices are perfectly fine. I think Gold (and even Silver) should be highly exclusive to people that have the cash to spend and want to support the forum, while still getting cool benefits. People just want prices lowered so they can cheap out and still get all the benefits others (such as myself) paid a fair chunk of cash for. Then you'd also have to give out partial refunds to all members that have upgraded to date.... I think what would work is on special occasions such as Christmas (or Hanukkah for @Adorapuff) we could offer a special deal where the percentage would depend on the scale of the occasion (25% for Easter, 50% for Christmas/Hanukkah and maybe 15% for 4th of July?). RE: Upgrade Prices - Balls - 09-09-2014 If you can offer Bronze for $5 BTC to an oldfag like me, I'd take it. If it's time registered, someone such as yourself (not flaming) who isn't active can just come on, and buy upgrades for extremely cheap, when there are others who contribute a lot more than I've ever seen you post who would have to pay more and it just wouldn't be fair. I think the way it works right now (like I mentioned previously) is perfect. Users can buy Bronze which is really all you even need, and it's extremely cheap, but if you have money to blow and you want to put it towards something that has offered you a lot of entertainment, give it to Sinisterly. That being said, maybe lower the price of Bronze a few dollars or so and then raise Gold by the same price, so getting a small upgrade is easier but the higher tiers are more exclusive (if that makes sense to any of you). I disagree, respectively. You're right when you say that the ranks have to be exclusive, but not just for the rich kids. That'd turn this amazing forum into a HF copycat. However, SL still needs to make some money, so there needs to be a balance between keeping the prices reasonable and still making significant amounts of money for Oni. The best solution that comes to mind is keeping the price dynamic, based on a user's stats, ranks, and contributions. You were right when you said that it shouldn't be based on the time registered as then it could be abused. For me, personally what I want is a figure that I can save up to in order to get gold. I don't work as of yet, so the money I make is through thinking of ideas, spending time and then making something. I don't work as of yet, so the money I make is through thinking of ideas, spending time and then making something. I also disagree respectively. Every kid on HF has UB3R and they throw their power around and it's the main reason why the forum is shit. It needs to be exclusive for the sole purpose that kids can't do just that. No kid has 90$ to throw at the forum, but if they do happen to actually have that money they have to be dedicated to put that much into the forum. I agree a slight discount would work for posts but it shouldn't be crazy, maybe 25% per 1k posts up to a max of 50%. The reason that Legends got a discount is because they helped support the forum a ton and they earned their right to a discount. I can probably only pick 5-6 regular users that actually deserve the discount, and the others that should get it already do. I also think that staff or mods should get like 50% off but we don't really have much staff so it doesn't really matter. Anyways, I leave the decision up to @Oni but I still think we should keep the ranks fairly exclusive. Though I would like to note if I do see someone that really deserves the rank but can't afford it, I'll probably just upgrade them myself. RE: Upgrade Prices - Nil - 09-11-2014 To increase the value, you can designate another staff (aka only me) to see if a user qualifies for an upgrade, or just a second or third one. That will keep it valuable and I can be a pretty tough bastard in my analysis's. Looking at the prices I don't think they are too high if that's what people were saying. But maybe I'm wrong. If people aren't willing to pay that much on a smaller forum and for the privileges they receive, then the price MUST be lowered. I mean, economics bro. |
