Precautions to Take so you Don't get Doxed - chronical - 09-02-2014 No, this isn't some silly ass tutorial written by a tryhard so that I could earn some rep. This is a simple tutorial, and these steps aren't for the weak. 1. Use a different email for every account you create, and don't make them similar to each other. Example - email for skype: LDj2bdms@Gmail.com email for facebook: ej29s62nd@Gmail.com 2. Use an at least 15 character password (preferably) generated by http://strongpasswordgenerator.com that is different on each of your accounts 3. Hide your IP at all costs. I recommend using Tor Browser for hiding your IP on websites and using Mullvad to hide your IP on Skype or any other non-web based chat or social application. You can purchase/download Mullvad here and can download Tor Browser here. 4. Don't tell anyone ANY actual information about you. Don't tell them your age, your name (that includes first name), your pets' names, your parents' names, your location, your time, any of that shit. If you're questioning whether you should tell someone something or not, chances are, you probably shouldn't tell them. 5. Don't use paypal, use bitcoin. And if you do end up having to use paypal, keep it as personal as possible. 6. Don't use facebook Optional shit: 1. If you're too lazy to use a different email for each account, make an email with a domain of your own and make sure your server is as protected as you can possibly make it. 2. Removing your parents and your own information from people search websites (pain in the ass) Often made mistakes: 1. Taking screenshots not realizing it has personal information in it and sending them to someone 2. Telling someone one of your old accounts that contains your name and/or age 3. Telling the time in your location, this leads to the other person knowing your relative location which makes it easier for them to dox you. 4. Forgetting to turn your VPN on and connecting to Skype or a site that stores cookies in your browser 5. Giving a picture of yourself to someone or posting it somewhere RE: Precautions to Take so you Don't get Doxed - Adorapuff - 09-02-2014 You broke rule #5! Seriously though, its a good tutorial, but I don't think people will actually use a different email for different things. Mullvad is relatively cheap. Do they log? RE: Precautions to Take so you Don't get Doxed - Losi - 09-02-2014 I should really start doing this shit. I only do half of the stuff on your list. I really should fork out some cash and get a premium vpn. Thanks for the tut by the way. Very informative. By the way, what's a secure password storer? Nope. https://mullvad.net/en/price-terms/#privacy RE: Precautions to Take so you Don't get Doxed - DeathAdder - 09-02-2014 I gotta say, I just recently had an incident where a guy got into multiple of my old accounts, got my first and last name, and whatnot. I mean, not to mention he was a DB skid(or so I'm told) so he already had a password I used on most fake accounts. But like I'm told by many, wise people, let them dox you, when they see you don't care, they won't care about doxing you anymore. (Unless you're like me and ask them to stop doxing lol) This is really good for those who want to remain anonymoos, I would recommend using something like DoNotTrackMe Also, I wouldn't recommend linking multiple accounts together, I made that mistake which lead me to get multiple skypes and emails compromised. Yeah, the only rules I follow are the password one and the IP one. I could care less if someone knew my name, where I lived, or my email, honestly And no they don't log, it's also really cheap so that's why I recommend it. Encrypted so that if someone else gets ahold of it, they won't be able to steal my accounts and multiple flash drives so that if I lose one, I'll still have the others. I didn't think of that. I'm going to do that. Yeah, that's pretty much me, except for the fact that I literally don't care. Once you get swatted once, it's 100% less scary the next time it happens lol RE: Precautions to Take so you Don't get Doxed - Losi - 09-02-2014 (09-02-2014, 03:07 AM)chronical Wrote: Yeah, that's pretty much me, except for the fact that I literally don't care. I've only been swatted twice (both reasons because I was talking shit on PS3), and no, it's not very fun the first time. The second time I actually chuckled when I saw a S.W.A.T van pull up outside of my window. Simply because the first thing I'd ask them is, "Do you remember me?" |
