Review of Ao No Exorcist (Manga Version) - Nyx - 08-15-2014 Welcome to my review of Ao No Exorcist. @Losimantom did an awesome review on the anime adaption to the manga series here that I highly suggest you go check out! Chapters are being released monthly by Katou Kazue. At the time of posting the manga is currently on its 59th chapter. Without further ado, here is the review! Synopsis This world consists of two dimensions joined as one, like a mirror. The first is the world in which the humans live, Assiah. The other is the world of demons, Gehenna. Ordinarily, travel between the two, and indeed any kind of contact between the two, is impossible. However the demons can pass over into this world by possessing anything that exist within it. Satan the god of demons, but there's one thing that he doesn't have, and that's a substance in the human world that is powerful enough to contain him!! For that purpose he created Rin, his son from a human woman, but will is son agree to his plans? Or will he become something else...? An exorcist? Source: http://myanimelist.net/manga/13492/Ao_no_Exorcist Plot The plot to this show started off a little bit normal, albeit very religious. It was really enjoyable to read but after a little bit the plot began to slope down from awesome to annoying and repetitive. It had exciting plot twists but just towards the end the author just began slacking off it feels and really didn't put in enough effort. I really can't give this a very good score because I didn't find it entertaining after a while but some of you would probably enjoy it and be a little less harsh on it, so I scored it a 6.5/10. Characters The characters in this manga are very fresh in my opinion when it comes to manga. There are a very small characters that fall into your normal manga cliché, but even the ones that do are still highly likeable and I really don't have much a dislike about them. A few, on one hand though are practically useless and can't do anything on their own, but they're not like Lucy from Fairy Tail but you can't do anything but hate them. Characters gets a 8/10, 2 points because the useless characters can get in the way at times, but they're not 'hateable'. Action The action in this manga is honestly nothing really all that special. It reminds me of an MMO in the fact that it has pretty much RPG classes and they group up and use their strengths to fight together. It really isn't special but it is still enjoyable none the less, and I gained some honest entertainment out of it. The score that action gets is a 7/10, 3 marks were taken due to the unoriginality but the entertainment value held the score afloat. Art Like the action, this series has nothing really all that amazing about it, and it feels like a lot of other manga. I don't think there were really any frames that made my jaw hit the floor due to how amazing they were, but it wasn't all that terrible, just not anything I haven't seen before. It gets a 7/10 because it doesn't reinvent the wheel but it did it's job well. Final Thoughts Even though not all the sections got a good score, the show overall gets a half decent mark due to it providing decent enough entertainment, but it didn't get a crazy mark because it did nothing overly special that made me fall in love with it. For the mark it gets a 7/10, which isn't terrible it just isn't a perfect score. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed another short review, and look forward to more in the future! They were both half written and just saved as drafts. I had so many half finished drafts that I just finish one at a time. ![]() |
