[Your view] Immortality - Gift or Curse? - Nasyr - 08-04-2014
Alright so I have a little obsession for immortality, meaning you do not die, which I personally think would be great but first for this thread lets say the following occurs when immortal.
1. You never age.
Example: Become immortal at 23, stay 23 forever.
2. Your body never gets older than your age.
Example: Your 23 and look 23 for ever, you don't get grey hair etc.
3. You are immune from viruses, and diseases.
Example: You don't die of radiation, or cancer.
My Opinion - Detailed.
This is my opinion, I'm sure people will disagree but it's only my opinion and I respect all others opinions!
Personally Immortality is a good thing, a gift in my opinion as you have the chance to live forever and be able to build your knowledge so that you know the past and present in detail.
You could become an expert in every area and have time to learn more.
A downside being that you would see friends and family die around you but over time you would get over it.
Also say the Government find out you are immortal, they would want to do tests and shit which I would not like to happen to me.
I could go on but that's just some of the things that are semi-important.
What is your views on immortality? Is it a good thing or bad? a gift or a curse?

You say you're immune from viruses or cancer, but what about mortal wounds and injuries? Immortality and invulnerability are two different sides of the same coin, after all.

Always been a little obsession of mine too, Immortality I've always thought would be a gift, not a curse. Pretty soon you'd get used to seeing people die and it wouldn't bother you so much, so you'd have no time limits on anything anymore. With an unlimited amount of time, you can learn anything, do anything, take over any business or country, and I don't think that's an over-exaggeration. If you are also invulnerable, you can literally do whatever you want without a single worry.

Doesn't specifically include invulnerability, which only is the inability to be damaged.
In my opinion it would be a blessing. I would love to never die.

Huh, in that case.
I might be the only one here, but I don't think I'd actually want to live forever. Prolonged life and youth maybe, but I think the fear and inevitable fate of death is what makes us human.

Would I be able to commit suicide or not? Because if I had the choice of being able to end my life while being immortal I would do it. I would think of it as a gift, I can learn from time. But the only thing that would be sad is that everyone I would know will age and die as I keep on living. That kinda blows.
