Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - lux - 03-30-2014 ![]() This has recently been niggling away at the back of my mind. What is your opinion on this? RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - mig4ng - 03-30-2014 This is kind of truth... There are cures for cancer, some really efficient... But sincerely the world is only thinking of money at this point. But there is also other points, since cancer is really different from people to people and depends on the affected area... So I think some methods aren't really that efficient for the "global" cancer. I've only seen some documentaries and read some stuff online, I'm not that into the subject so don't take this words so seriously, go search on the web if you more accurate information. RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - Eclipse - 03-30-2014 I completely disagree with this. The world may like money, but it wouldn't sacrifice the lives of millions for it. We are a lot better at dealing with cancer than we were 1 year ago. I watched an interesting documentary about it recently. The big bang theory: Latest series, episode 2 or 3, 'cancer'. RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - w00t - 03-30-2014 Oh for fucks sake. There are no proven cures for cancer. If there were, they would make considerably more than existing treatments, seeing as roughly one in 3 people in the West get cancer at some point, and around 1% of those refuse treatment. RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - lux - 03-30-2014 I can see the reasoning for both your points. But we need people to die. We can't afford to eliminate all illnesses and disease. The earth doesn't have enough resources or space to accommodate a fast growing population. RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - tinko00 - 03-30-2014 Yeah I agree with monotonous. The dying is needed, so the nature recyclement is stable. sorry for my bad language
RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - w00t - 03-30-2014 Yes, we need people to die, but if medicine were purely money motivated, they would make considerably more off you if you were kept alive to the point that multiple organs started just failing. This is also a hotly debated ethical issue. Should we let older people die to avoid overpopulation? Or should we treat them exactly as we treat other groups of people? Me personally, I have a DNR order on record, as I have no dependents and am already fairly content with my life. RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - Sapientia - 03-30-2014 I've thought about this for years now, and honestly I think that's the exact reason. The US government hides a ton of stuff from us, and that's been proven that they do. If they have a chance to make a ton of money, whilst decreasing the population then they will do it. That's just my opinion though. Re: RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - Satan - 03-30-2014 (03-30-2014, 03:16 PM)Monotonous Wrote: I can see the reasoning for both your points. But we need people to die. We can't afford to eliminate all illnesses and disease. The earth doesn't have enough resources or space to accommodate a fast growing population. We have plenty of space, and renewable resources. If people actually bothered to renew them based on usage and demand, we wouldn't have that worry, but for all the people who talk about how we're running out of this and that, nobody has stood up for it. Plenty of room, just people who are too picky to live outside a crammed city who then in turn complain about how everything is so crowded. The human race is full of hypocrites. And while unreasonable, this topic is plausible. Yes, they make money off of illness by it not having a cure. They make more money by curing it. Otherwise cures for anything wouldn't exist. Do I believe big pharma has this situation in their pocketbooks? Not entirely. If they did and it came out, do you think people would take it lying down? My guess is they're all to aware of the risk it would carry to monopolise and control the development of any possible cure, as in a tested and proven cure, especially with a terrible disease that affects so many people. (lel marijuana cures cancur, I red it online derp derp derp)(Its not proven, and barely tested, its just a research finding, and even then is not a theory into a cure, just a treatment, and the research they were originally doing was not about cancer, quit trying to glorify pot, I have nothing against it, but you stoners are willing to jump on anything that makes it look better, without even reading what you're promoting) RE: Cancer - Are they in it for the money? - Judas - 03-30-2014 If there was a guaranteed cure for all types of cancer, the world would be overpopulated and there wouldn't be enough resources for everyone.
