How do you deal with loud talkers at work? - True2marie - 02-23-2014

I just started a new job at a call center. Unfortunately, they did not have enough space to put me into my own cube. They are building an area that won't be ready until mid-March. The problem - I sit next to a LOUD TALKER. She gets so animated while on the phone that she actually gets out of her chair while speaking with customers. Then, to compound matters, after she gets off of a call, she talks to everyone in our small room.

I have already spoken to her about this issue once. She got angry with me and only settled down for a day. Then, she was back to her usual self.

Does anyone else work with a a loud talker? If so, how do you deal with this person?

Talk to your boss about talking to her.

If it's not a big problem, I don't really mind about having loud talkers at work because the only people who talk loud would be my customers. In your case, I would suggest that you should talk to someone who's in charge, but then again talk to that loud talker first and give at least two warnings before you talk to other people. That way, no one will actually talk about you that you complain behind someone's back, which can backfire at you sometimes.

Do others complain too? As that person might be getting leeway due to some connections with management.
