Well My base was made as I go, I dont really like to change it.

And I have been playing for over 2 years but I deleted the game in between those two year and downloaded it after about 6 months of not playing it. So I guess you could say that I could be much higher in level. But also a recommendation is not to upgrade your townhall to soon, get your defenses high first then do your town hall. also keep your trophies low until you are strong enough to have them high, and your base defends everything. I have not had a 3 star attack on myself in probably a year.

So basically, I need to build my defenses up and keep my town hall and trophies as low as I can until I get my defenses higher?

I love it, it's really fun. And yeah, it's on iOS. It's a waiting game though. If you're wanting to upgrade things, you generally have to wait a while. But it's worth it when nobody can bypass your defenses.

Basically yes, but town hall isn't as bad as trophys it doesn't matter too much what townhall your at, you can get more defenses with a higher town hall though. Also keep attacking, I have not attacked some in probably 6months.

Great game but be ware you will get hooked on the game for life. But it is a waiting game so it only takes about 10 mins of your life a day.
