If you really think about it, Pokemon is basically an allegory for animal fighting. As much as I love it, it is an acceptable version of a dog fighting game.

I can agree with you.
I was watching an episode out of boredom the other day, and there was this kid who treated his Pokemon like slaves. He trained them with the motto 'no pain no gain' or something along the lines. He even whipped the pokemon! It's a kids show for crying out loud!

But it also teaches great morals and gives entertainment to children.
The point of the thread was to show how hiding your children from this sort of thing is horrible and will harm them in the long run.

You're confusing a pixel world to the natural world.

Mankind isn't perfect. Teaches them a history lesson.

Allegory would be the keyword in that sentence.

One can find violence in almost every video game, take a moment and think about the classic Mario games for example. In those games you were running around, smashing living creatures, and splatting their insides out. You were also burning them to death, alongside freezing them, throwing objects at them, drowning them and so on. Its our view on what we see as fitting or not, as violence can exist in everything and people who claim that certain things doesn't contain it because the looks of it are more innocent are blind.

Jumping on a 2d pixelated mushroom is not violence. Never seen a child jump on some mushroom because it was there.

Turtles and living things.
