Do you complain to others about your relationship? - True2marie - 01-10-2014 My mother always told me to keep relationships problems to myself. Why? She said after you move past a lover's fault, your friends and family will keep bringing it up. So far, I have found her to be right on this. Do you complain to others about your relationship? RE: Do you complain to others about your relationship? - Singularity - 01-10-2014 No I dont think I have, but lets say that your friend is blind because he is with his first ever girlfriend and they are talking about getting married and having a family when they are only 18 and I know for a fact that she sends pictures to guys and flirts with guys. I told him once and he took his girlfriends side. It pisses me off. Sorry off topic. RE: Do you complain to others about your relationship? - Linkzelda - 01-10-2014 I agree with what she stated that you should keep relationship problems to yourself (or to a few trustworthy people). And to add onto that, it’s the fact that family and friends are generally more thoughtful and seriously take into consideration of seeing the other person you broke up with in a different manner (and they may harbor resentment for them instead of trying to forgive them). While you can conceptualize the entirety of that person you used to go out with/interact with, family and friends may only see the negative sides depending on how much that person affected you. I personally don’t really talk to my parents or friends about relationship problems. I have one friend I’m close to, however, I know she wouldn’t be able to respond back to me seeing how she’s usually avoids intimate relationships in the first place. As for my family, they would just give me generic advice that I’ve been reflective and aware about a long time ago. But I wouldn’t say it’s bad to discuss those matters with friends that you can really trust though, but that’s dependent on how well they can keep the problems to themselves and you alone though. There's always friends that see both sides of the story and are more vicarious because they probably experienced the same issues and learned from it, or they're just good at cognitively deducing the circumstances before assuming. RE: Do you complain to others about your relationship? - Kaylah - 01-10-2014 I always complain about my boyfriend to other people. I complain about him a lot. He checks out other girls a lot and it makes me sick to my stomach, so I complain about him. I can't help it. When someone hurts you, you want to complain because in a way, it keeps you more sane. If I kept it all bottled up inside, I would go crazy. RE: Do you complain to others about your relationship? - LindaKay - 01-13-2014 I think your mom is right. Even after you forgive the person, your friends and family won't. That's why I really don't talk about my problems with my BF to anyone. I have vented to ONE friend a few times in the past, but she lives in another state and doesn't talk to anyone else that I know. I find that it's easier that way. RE: Do you complain to others about your relationship? - pandandesign - 02-18-2014 Well, it depends on the problems. I sometimes do when I want to share them with my parents because they listen to me and give me advices that I wouldn't have figured out myself. However, if it is a small problem, then I will keep it my own because the more I complain it to other people, the more they think the kind of person I am. I try to solve my own because that's how I maintain the relationship and try to fix as many problems as possible before they go too far. |
